Frequently Asked Questions

Do you use samples?

No. All tracks are completely original.

What are trackouts?

“Trackouts” aka “stems” are the individual audio files that a particular beat is made of. For example – kick, hi hat, clap, bass, etc. These are needed for a top-quality mix, as the engineer can mix these sounds around your particular vocals.

How do I give production credit?

“Produced by Blue Road Music” works just fine. A link to our website is appreciated, but not mandatory.

Can I profit off of the songs I make with beats I purchase?

Yes, you can. Please review your earnings limit depending on which license you purchased. A chart is displayed on the homepage of our site. As well, from there, you can view official sample agreements.

Do I have to pay the producer a percentage of the royalties I accure?

Our non-exclusive licenses (Basic & Premium) are 100% royalty-free, but last two years.

As for “Exclusive” & “Custom Beat” licenses, you must pay 3% of net profits (from Master use) to the producer. As well, publishing will be split 25/75 (Us/You). These licenses last for a lifetime, and prevent anyone else from ever licensing the same beat after you.

How long does it take for me to receive my beat after I buy?

Our non-exclusive purchases are sent instantly upon payment. Please allow up to 24 hrs for receipt of exclusive purchases.

Will the beat be removed from the website once I purchase it?

If you purchase a non-exclusive license, the beat will not be removed from the site. If you make an exclusive purchase then yes, the beat will be removed.

How does the copyright situation work?

The producer will retain all copyright ownership of the beats. However, if you purchase exclusive rights or a custom beat, you will retain copyright ownership of the Sound Recording (Masters).

For non-exclusive purchases, you should file a “joint copyright” for the “song” that you make to the beats, listing you as a contributor to lyrics & composition (melody/flow). However, you must contact us before doing so as you will need to add the producer’s information for contribution as a composer as well. Please note that ‘non-exclusive’ licenses last two years. After-which, the copyright will be contractually void.

In a non-exclusive license case, even though the producer is on the copyright (which he must be since he created the music), the producer will NOT take/request any back-end royalties (as noted in all non-exclusive agreements).

If you’re serious about your career, we highly suggest purchasing exclusive rights, or getting a custom beat made in order to remove all limitations.

A beat I was listening to is now removed from the site. What happened to it?

If a beat is removed, most likely its exclusive rights were bought. Once a beat is bought exclusively, it cannot be resold. Rarely, we will remove older tracks that no longer meet our standards, as our standards constantly grow & change.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major debit/credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover). All transactions are made via Paypal. You do not have to have a Paypal account to make your transactions.
